Earned Range – Building the Athlete’s Shoulder from the Ground
Earned Range - Building the Athlete’s Shoulder from the Ground
Evidence-informed Strategies to develop Shoulder Mobility across the T-Spine, Scapula, and Glenohumeral Joint
30th August 2026 . 12:30 to 15:30 (CET)
Can your athletes actually use the range they have, under load, at speed, and under fatigue? Passive flexibility is only half the story – the shoulder that matters in sport is the one that can access its range actively under load and at speed. This workshop looks at the shoulder as an integrated system, where the thoracic spine, scapula, and glenohumeral joint each shape how mobility actually transfers to performance.
Participants will learn to assess this triad from an S&C perspective, spot the gap between passive flexibility and active mobility, and understand how the shoulder’s capacity to store and release elastic energy influences mobility demands in explosive and repetitive movements. Expect a primarily hands-on session: Practical assessment tools, loaded mobility progressions and programming ideas you can bring into your own coaching.
Anja Leber
As a former competitive gymnast with over 15 years of coaching experience, she brings a first-hand, embodied understanding of what it means to push a joint – especially the shoulder – to its absolute limits. That practical foundation, combined with the coaching expertise she built afterward, shapes how she now helps athletes build a joint system that moves well and holds up under load, rather than one that simply has range and no control. She co-runs LS Sports Performance, a S&C-specialized gym in Bern, coaching novice to elite athletes across both individual and team sports, with a particular focus on return-to-performance – closing the gap between rehab and high-performance is one of her core interests.
